Luigi Capasso

Filmmaker. Storyteller. Producer.

Luigi Capasso is an Italian filmmaker  based in Montreal.
After completing academic studies in painting and photography at the Academy of Fine Arts in Naples, he moved to Canada in 2013, where he began working as a cinematographer and director.

In 2015, he founded Zoomlab, an independent audiovisual production studio dedicated to film creation. His first short film was screened at international festivals and received several accolades, including the Best Fiction Short Film award at the Devour Film Fest in Nova Scotia.

His background in painting has shaped his cinematic vision, which is also evident in his documentary work on street art, including Art Libre, a film that explores the work of artist Millo in Montreal.
This perspective on visual arts led him to collaborate with a Canadian production company to create a five-part documentary series titled Arches, dedicated to Italian heritage in Canada through architecture—a project that won the Prix Opération Patrimoine Montréal.

He is currently in post-production on a new short film shot in Naples, scheduled for release in 2025, while simultaneously developing ideas for a future feature film.
Through his work, Luigi Capasso explores cinema as a universal language, capable of delving into human emotions and reflecting the complexities and changes of the contemporary world.
